I knew from a very young age that I wanted to be an artist. My parents supported my desire and encouraged my growth with private art lessons. When it came time for college, they took me to various art schools to help me make a decision. I was lead to New Mexico State University in Las Cruces where I pursued fine art and my creative drive flourished. It was here where I had my first jewelry class under Lisa Norton who told me that I had a "jeweler's eye".
I moved on to Texas Tech University in Lubbock, Texas where I finished my bachelor's degree in Jewelry and Metalsmithing with Robly Glover. Rob took me under his wing and I have to yet to find a more inspiring instructor. After I graduated from Tech, I took one post-undergraduate semester to explore my ideas a little further. It was at this time that I decided I wasn't finished with school, and I applied to graduate school. I received scholarships to both of the schools in the northwest to which I had applied, however, my ultimate choice was the University of Washington. Once I had earned my master's degree, I was free to create and able to enjoy the process of making art again.
